Training of 45 pastors and one congregant from each of their churches to learn how to facilitate the Win-Win Parenting Skills Training Programme can only be undertaken on Saturdays as many of the pastors have full time weekday jobs.
The first workshop which will be attended by pastors and congregants from 25 churches will be conducted on the last two Saturdays in January 2019 and the second workshop to be attended by pastors and congregants from 20 churches will be conducted on the first two Saturdays in February 2019.
This will result in training of an estimated 2,250 parents during February and March in Langa in 2019.
This Programme will be conducted by the pastor in the local language he/she selects. All training materials will be in the language selected.
Pastors will train parents how to implement 12 practical parenting skills through mini-lectures, case studies, role plays, simulations and group discussions appropriate to the literacy levels of the parents.
It is anticipated that this training programme will contribute to the creation of harmonious and cohesive family life in Langa. Pastors will be encouraged to launch community projects to create a child-safe community.
